Trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress
Experiencing trauma can take many forms, and include events such as childhood neglect, sexual trauma, bullying, racism or homophobia, witnessing violence in military combat, and beyond. No matter the trauma that lead you to seek treatment, our therapists will guide you through the path of healing. We believe in the resiliency of each of our clients and will integrate your internal strengths in therapy.
In the aftermath of a traumatic event(s), our brains are not able to process the experience in the same way as a normal memory. Sometimes, this can lead to overwhelming feelings and emotions, such as flashbacks, nightmares, intrusive thoughts/memories, agitation, anxiety and/or a tendency to avoid things that remind you of the trauma. Our trauma-focused therapists will help you reestablish a sense of safety and re-orient you to life in the present moment. We utilize a variety of approaches to treating trauma, including EMDR, Exposure Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Therapy.
We honor the courage and strength that it takes to address trauma.. When you feel ready, we are here to travel the journey with you. We encourage you to schedule an appointment to learn more about the process of trauma-focused therapy and how we can help you rebuild peace from the past.
